Sobre mí

I received a Master’s degree in Cell Biology and Animal Physiology in 2001 and a Ph.D in Neuroscience in 2005 from the University of Lille 2 (France).
I have been a Research Associate in the Department of Physiology, Development and Neuroscience at the University of Cambridge (UK) from 2005 to 2011.
After a brief postdoctoral position in 2012, I received a Miguel Servet fellowship from the ISCiii to carry out my research projects at the Institute of Biomedicine of Seville – IBiS (Spain) from 2013 to october 2020. I have now a tenure track position («Profesor Contratado Doctor») at the Medical Physiology & Biophysics Department in the University of Seville.

I have dedicated my research career to the field of Neuroscience; first studying the integration of hormonal messages by the hypothalamus to regulate the reproductive function, then I investigated the effects of hypoxia on the brain. I am now the team leader of a small group working with transgenic mouse models to search for a therapeutic treatment based on neuroprotection for Parkinson’s disease.
