I was born in Jaén in 1995. I started my studies at Córdoba University studying the Degree in Biochemistry. There, I was in contact with the Organic Chemistry Department. After that, I pursued my studies in Granada, where I studied a master’s degree which is within the field of personalized medicine. Finally, I did internships in GENYO Center where I am currently continuing my research work focused on the genetics of various diseases, including cancer.

Lines of investigation

Genetic analysis of the genome, transcriptome or gene expression profiles of mRNA or microRNAs for the study of cancer or other genetic-based diseases.

The most notable result of your research

My master thesis shows massive sequencing is an immense source of information that opens the door to the discovery of biomarkers in liquid biopsy. We can affirm that MRC2 could be a good candidate liquid biopsy biomarker in Prostata Cancer.

How did you come to science and why are you still here?

I have always liked science. When I finished my master's degree I had the opportunity to join to the group where I am now in and then, get closer to the lab every day. Today I would say that despite the difficulties is an exciting job that will always be worth fighting for.

A scientific desire

For me, a priority scientific desire would be the significant increase in investment in research in Spain. The commitment to development and innovation in science that allows all who are part do not necessarily have to leave our country to continue our activity and scientific career. Closely related to the above, it would be desirable for science to have a greater impact on society. The scientific spreading would reach all ages and be a much better known field and, therefore, more valued by all.
